Nexans are fully committed to raising the standards throughout New Zealand for cable accessory installation. We are proud to announce that we have invested in a purpose-built Power Accessories Training Centre in New Plymouth.

Our training centre is fully equipped to provide practical and theoretical training for jointers and engineers on all aspects of Nexans MV cable accessories.

The new purpose-built Training Centre is more than a classroom. It is a dedicated hub where installers, engineers and partners can learn, collaborate and lean directly on Nexans for reliable cable and cable accessories knowledge. It brings together product expertise, best practice installation and field experience under one roof, so that everyone who is certified leaves fully equipped to work with Nexans solutions in the real world.

Practical content

The starting point for most of our training courses is to ensure that the trainees are schooled in the art of cable preparation, which is essential for the correct installation of accessories. Simple explanations of faults caused by poor cable preparation are given to make the trainees aware of why failures occur.

If preparation on a specific cable is required, please supply a sample for training purposes.

Theoretical content

These courses are designed to provide all attendees an introduction into the workings of cable accessories, the correct choice of accessory for a given application and most importantly the causes of failures and how to avoid them.

Certification

Successful candidates will be issued with a Training Certificate valid for 3 years, detailing the training and idenfiying the accessory types.

Health and Safety

This subject will concentrate on all aspects of health and safety with regard to cable accessory installation.

Participants are required to bring their own appropriate PPE equipment & cable preparation tools.

National Coverage

Nexans New Zealand Power Accessories Training Centre is located in New Plymouth. This purpose-built training facility combines theory, hands‑on practice and certification. The Nexans programs are built around three pillars: clear theory, intensive hands‑on practice on real cables and accessories, and, where required, formal assessment and certification.

On-site training: If you have specific site or application requirements, or if your team is subject to travel restrictions, we can offer on-site training. Training can be provided either at your premises or directly on site.
