Personal information we may collect

We will not collect your personal information unless the information is reasonably necessary for one or more of our functions or activities. The types of personal information we may collect from the below Nexans communications platforms.

 

Websites

Personal information we may collect from you when you use or submit information on our websites includes, but is not limited to, your name, email address, phone number, address, occupation and company details. In addition, we may collect cookies from your computer, as well as your IP address and browser information which enables us to tell when you use the websites and also to help customise your website experience.

 

Mobile applications

Personal information we may collect from you when you use or submit information on our mobile applications includes, but is not limited to, your name, email address, phone number, physical address, occupation and company details. In addition, we may also collect data from your mobile device such as your device ID, your IP address and, if you consent to its disclosure, geographic location data in the course of operating the application.

 

Other services

We may also collect personal information provided by you in the course of your interactions with us, for example if you make enquiries about our products or services, or otherwise in the normal course of our services, over the phone, by letter, email or fax, or by filling out a form online or in hard copy. The purpose for which we collect personal information though our websites, through our mobile applications, or in the course of our business activities is to assist in providing you with our services relating to the design, manufacturing and marketing of electrical cables. This may include responding to your queries and providing relevant information in response to those queries, providing sales support and after-sale services, and where required, entering into agreements with our contractors and suppliers. In addition, we may collect, use or disclose information in the course of assessing credit applications, credit management or if required to by law.  We may also provide your contact details to channel partners for the purpose of offering goods, services and benefits.

 

Direct marketing

Some personal information provided through the use of the websites, the mobile applications, or in the course of our business activities, may also be used to communicate with you regarding relevant product offerings or other direct marketing activities by email or post. We will only use your personal information for activities of this nature with your consent, and you have the right to request not to receive direct marketing communications at any time. Mobile applications

This includes identifying the channel partner that sells a particular product and is closest to your location, or directing a query about our products to the closest channel partner.

We will endeavour to respond to a request to access or correct personal information within a reasonable period of time after a request is made. In the case of a request to correct personal information, we will not charge a fee. However, in the case of a request for access to information, we may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of verifying your application and locating, retrieving, reviewing and copying any material requested.

 

The provision of personal information in some cases is optional, and in some situations you have the right to deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym. If any personal information that we hold is no longer needed for any purpose in this Privacy Policy, and no applicable law requires us to retain that information, we will take reasonable steps to de-identify or destroy the relevant personal information.

 

Transfer out of Australia or New Zealand

Our websites are not hosted in Australia or New Zealand (as the case may be). For that reason, we transfer all data on the website (including personal information) to our hosting service provider and our commercial department in France. We may also, in some cases, engage overseas service providers, such as email providers and “cloud” data services, in the course of providing the websites, the mobile applications, and our services to you. The location of these service providers may vary.

In the event that personal information must be disclosed overseas other than as described above, we will endeavour obtain consent from you.
